"The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." -- Psalm 126:3
Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church is rich in history, both in it’s people and it’s ministries. It was founded in 1982 in Seattle, Washington by Pastor Gary Blaylock and his family.
History of Calvary Tabernacle UPC
Services were held in the home of Pastor Blaylock at first. Increased church membership led to the rental of a local congregational church's facility from 1985 - 1992.
Calvary Tabernacle became incorporated in the State of Washington on June 1, 1992.
In 1993, Calvary Tabernacle purchased its previous building in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.
In 1983 the church expanded its youth ministry to provide spiritual instruction, guidance and fellowship for its youth and young adults, 12-35 years of age. Periodic activities were added to promote friendship and provide Christian alternatives to worldly entertainment.
In 1990, the Children’s Ministry was implemented. This included Sunday School for children ages 2-17, and a Children’s Church for children ages 11 years and under.
In 1996, expansion was growing to be a necessity! By 1998, attendance reached the mid-eighties.
Currently, Calvary Tabernacle holds several services a week in both English and Spanish, and provides activities
throughout the week for its members and the community.
In 1999, Calvary Tabernacle called Nathan Boyd to serve the church as a Youth Minister and to assist with pastoral duties.
In 2008, Wade Plante and Jasen Reed joined the ministry team as Outreach and Care ministry directors, respectively. Jairo Mendez, Pastor for our Spanish-speaking congregants, Don Shanks, and Darell Dauenhauer were added to the staff to help with preaching and teaching during services.
In 2016, Calvary Tabernacle purchased its current building in Lynnwood, Washington and began holding regular services by Christmas Day of the same year.
