Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
-- Matthew 28:19-20
The Mission at Calvary Tabernacle UPC
Our mission is to teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all, with the principles of Biblical truths and salvation. Each individual that enters our church environment must have a safe and loving place to fellowship and grow in. To help, uplift, encourage and minister to those in need is our mission and desire.
Calvary Tabernacle UPC of Lynnwood, Washington was founded in 1983 with the express purpose of preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all in need. The purpose of this church body is to seek out and minister to those in need, both spiritually and physically, whatever that need may be.
We believe that we should support those among us who are in need with whatever resources are available to us. The Scripture tells us in many passages that we should be Christ-like in our outreach and dealings with others. The apostle Paul in Galatians 2:10 entreats us to “remember the poor”. In the book of James we are told that “true religion” is this, “to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction.”
While our focus as a church must be on those spiritual needs of an individual, the temporal needs must be addressed so that God may work in those lives that need Him. The church has to take the opportunity to make itself available to the community as a resource to feed the hungry, meet the needs of the neglected and abused, provide shelter when necessary, and help reestablish lives and families.
